The Westside Breakers girls U12 White team coached by Mike Page recently won back to back tournament titles at both the Copa Real Soccer Tournament on Jan. 15-16 and the Eclipse Winter Cup Jan. 22-23.
At Real, the Breakers won all three of their pool games and then faced a silver elite team, South Valley SC, in the championship match and prevailed by a score of 1-0 to win the tournament. At Eclipse, the Breakers won their pool with a 2-1 win vs Slammers White and a 1-1 tie against Legends Black. The Breakers then faced the host team, Laguna Hills Eclipse Blue, in the semi-finals and prevailed by a score of 2-1. In the finals, the Breakers faced a talented Irvine Strikers team and dominated the game but only led by a score of 1-0 late in the 2nd half. With 3 minutes remaining a strong push by ISC and tired legs led to the tying goal being scored. The game then had to be decided by a penalty kick shootout and the Breakers won by a score of 4-2 to take home the 1st place trophy for the second straight week. Congratulations ladies on two great weekends of soccer!
